Tommy Sexton Centre Shelter

The Tommy Sexton Centre Shelter provides low barrier, short-term accommodation for individuals living with, affected by, or considered at risk of contracting HIV and/or HCV. This includes all vulnerable individuals of any gender identity in need of emergency or short-term shelter, ages 16+, and is provided from a Harm Reduction perspective in a manner that respects the diverse experiences and needs of these individuals. We are committed to fostering an atmosphere of care, support, and respect between residents and staff. Recognizing the rights of individuals to self-determination, we take a strengths-based, solution-focused approach to assisting in securing safe, affordable, appropriate housing.

The Space includes:

  • 4 private bedrooms
  • Wheelchair accessibility
  • Access to kitchen for breakfast, lunch and snacks, supper prepared by staff
  • 2 individual washrooms with showers
  • Shared laundry
  • Individual support and crisis counselling, life-skills development, as well as links and referrals to appropriate services and resources
  • Pet therapy on site (monthly)
