AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador (ACNL) is a provincial non-profit and charitable organization committed to preventing the spread of HIV, hepatitis C virus (HCV), and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs) through supportive, education and harm reduction programs and services. What started as a kitchen group providing meals to people in the community, ACNL earned its official organization status in 1988. Almost four decades later, we continue to support people living with, affected by, or at risk for HIV/AIDS and/or HCV.

ACNL is located in the Tommy Sexton Centre, named after the beloved and hilarious Canadian film and television icon Tommy Sexton. Born right here in St. John’s, NL, Tommy died of AIDS-related complications on December 13, 1993. He was 36. We continue to honour and celebrate Tommy’s legacy and the love he shared for this world and his craft.

We invite you to learn more about who we are and the different programs and services we offer, browse and use the resources on our website, and get involved where you can. We thank the community and our funders and sponsors for their continued support and dedication to our work!
